Three companies. Three different kinds of pressure.

TelecommunicationsReal Estate & REITHealthcare2011–2026

Building a function from nothing. Steering a public company through an acquisition. Coordinating a national crisis response. This is what that work actually looked like, in the numbers and the decisions behind them.

01 / Telecommunications — PE-Backed

Building the PR Function From Zero

Earned Media Value · 2025
$14.7M

Nearly 12,000 media placements in a single year, from a function that didn’t exist three years earlier.

Problem

A PE-backed telecommunications company was three years into a multi-billion-dollar, 20-state fiber network expansion with no PR function in place. Regulatory positioning, community messaging, and executive visibility were all unmanaged.

Action

Built the enterprise PR function from inception: a governance model, a $2M budget, and a media strategy spanning hyper-local build milestones, statewide updates, and national announcements including grant awards and technology launches.

Result

$14.7M in earned media value and nearly 12,000 placements in 2025 alone, plus national recognition including the ISE Innovators Platinum Award and Chicago Titan 100.

02 / Real Estate — Publicly Traded REIT

Communications Through a Public Acquisition

Growth in Executive Media Engagement · Year One
190%

Press release output grew 106% over the same period, both ahead of a landmark acquisition.

Problem

A publicly traded REIT undergoing strategic transformation needed communications aligned across media, investors, employees, and stakeholders under SEC governance, with no formal measurement discipline in place.

Action

Directed public-company communications strategy, built governance workflows and KPI dashboards, and expanded the digital and social program.

Result

190% growth in executive media engagement, 106% growth in press release output, and coverage in CNBC, NBC Nightly News, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, ahead of the company’s acquisition by Prologis.

03 / Healthcare — Fortune 50

Crisis and Settlement Communications at National Scale

Individuals Affected · 2015 Data Breach
80M

The largest healthcare data breach in U.S. history, coordinated across legal, government affairs, cybersecurity, and operations.

Problem

A Fortune 50 health insurer faced the largest healthcare data breach in U.S. history, affecting 80 million individuals, under sustained national scrutiny.

Action

Served on the core crisis communications team throughout the incident, then led communications for the resulting legal settlement, coordinating messaging across legal, government affairs, cybersecurity, and operations.

Result

Corporate reputation and stakeholder trust protected through a multi-year, high-visibility crisis and legal process.
